Ennepetal - April 15. PAKi Logistics, the open pooling specialist for euro pallets and member of Faber Group, has acquired the Spanish pallet pooling company Poolback from Rotom. With this acquisition, PAKi Logistics strengthens its presence in Spain and Portugal and reinforces its ambition to build a harmonised open pooling system across Europe.
Strengthening pallet pooling in Iberia
The agreement is based on continuity. PAKi Logistics will continue working closely with Poolback’s existing customers, partners and operational teams. The established service structure and local expertise in Spain and Portugal will continue to play an important role and will be further developed within PAKi Logistics’ European network. The acquisition marks another step in PAKi Logistics’ international growth strategy and expands its ability to support retailers, manufacturers and logistics providers operating across borders. This step is aimed at improving service quality and increasing value for both Poolback and PAKi Logistics customers by combining local expertise with a stronger and more integrated European network.
One European open pooling system
The acquisition supports PAKi Logistics’ long-term ambition to further align euro pallet pooling across Europe and reduce complexity for international supply chains. By aligning processes, quality standards and data-driven management, PAKi Logistics and Poolback will contribute to a more transparent and scalable open pooling ecosystem in Iberia.
Digital solutions such as PAKi Logistics’ eVoucher system will further support efficient pallet exchange by reducing administrative effort, waiting times and paperwork across the supply chain.
“We would like to thank Rotom for the constructive cooperation throughout this process and for the trust they have shown in PAKi Logistics as the future home of Poolback. This acquisition is about responsibility and long-term impact. Iberia is a strategically important market for our customers. Together with Poolback, we want to contribute to strengthening a common open pooling standard that works seamlessly across Europe and makes life easier for pallet users,” says Annegret Kramer-Münch, CEO of PAKi Logistics.
Rotom congratulates PAKi Logistics on its acquisition of Poolback, based in Madrid, Spain.
“Rotom decided to divest Poolback as part of a strategic decision to simplify our business model and focus on four core pillars: (1) new and used pallet production and trade, (2) pallet recovery, (3) rental, and (4) services,” said Paul Rombeek, CEO of Rotom Group. “Pallet pooling requires different skills and expertise and, therefore, does not align with our strategic focus. At first, we would like to thank management and staff of Poolback for their contribution to Rotom. Poolback is a strong business, and with PAKi Logistics as new owner, there is a better fit to further grow the business of Poolback. We wish PAKi Logistics, Faber Group and Poolback continued success in the future.”
