2 years of vPOOL and PAKi: A partnership full of synergies

vPOOL has been a subsidiary of PAKi Logistics for two years now. In 2019, the load carrier expert PAKi Logistics had taken over the operation of the pooling and logistics division of vPOOL based in Wörnitz and continued the new company under the name vPOOL. After two years, the two pooling experts look back on a successful merger and use their many synergies to expand the vPOOL and PAKi business in 2021.

"The merger two years ago has proved very fruitful for all of us. Both companies benefit from each other's many years of experience and a common Open Pooling mindset, which is expressed above all through the expertise and passion of our employees," says Christian Agasse, CEO of PAKi Logistics. A very high level of customer orientation and the offer of tailor-made solutions for customers form the cornerstone for many synergies that take the two pooling experts further in the market. "Our product portfolios with their combination of service and a diverse range of load carriers complement each other perfectly. Because where meat crates are used, Euro pallets are often used as well," says Heiko Dagenbach, Managing Director of vPOOL. "We want to exploit this potential this year, especially with regard to the international market, in order to further expand our network of delivery points, make new contacts and win new customers."

Not only will resources and projects be shared in the infrastructure from IT to HR to marketing and sales, but also the existing network in order to expand the area of logistics and trade customers. vPOOL can focus more on internationalisation in sales and make new contacts abroad through PAKi's international pooling network. When advising customers, the two companies can now respond even better to customer wishes and needs. Where a problem or need is identified with the customer that is covered by other load carriers and related services, the sales departments coordinate closely. "We exchange and transfer knowledge to provide even better service and an all-round view of the customer's needs. The best example of this is our current vPOOL sales employee Julius Pflug, who started his career in operations at PAKi," explains Heiko Dagenbach. The association with the Faber Halbertsma Group, to which vPOOL and PAKi belong as subsidiaries, has also enabled enormous synergy effects to be exploited in the Europe-wide market through the variety of load carriers and the associated services.

Other cornerstones of the joint corporate philosophy are a sustainable company management and a strong future orientation, which manifests itself in the expansion of digital services such as Poolbook, e-Voucher and Drop & Drive App. Thanks to jointly optimised processes and services, even the Corona pandemic could not throw the parent and subsidiary companies off track, as the foundation for digital ways of working had already been laid internally. Thus, the introduction of mobile work in the group of companies could be implemented at a very early stage. "As an employer, we were able to deal with the crisis well and responsibly. All divisions have been working remotely from home for the most part since March last year - and just as well as usual. Even in the logistics department, a shift model is used to work alternately in the office and at home," says Heiko Dagenbach. Sustainability projects on the agenda include the conversion to a CO2-saving fleet with electric and hybrid vehicles and the expansion of a company bicycle concept.
