History

Where it all started

The PAKi Logistics GmbH was founded in 1974 by a group of business experts who recognized the potential of exchangeable load carriers and, from then on, promoted their use in the industry. By co-initiating the foundation of the European Pallet Association (EPAL) in 1991, PAKi helped ensure the transnational development and safety of the open pooling system.

Joining the Faber Halbertsma Group

In 2012, PAKi was taken over by the Faber Halbertsma Group. FHG consists of the Faber Halbertsma pallet production companies, PAKi Logistics, IPP and PRS Return System. The Dutch enterprise itself looks back on over 130 years of production history in the sector of wooden load carriers of all types, including 1993’s first wooden pallet with the ISO 9001 quality certificate.

Development and innovation

The year 2012 also marked the dawning of innovative improvements to the plastic 1.4 Quarter pallet. The PAKi version was made completely out of recycled material and facilitated the mounting of POS displays. After the 1.4 Quarter pallet, PAKi also revised the Düsseldorf 1.2 half pallet. Due to a joint effort, both of these pallets are now managed entirely through the IPP pooling system. In 2015, PAKi’s innovative nature was demonstrated once more, as the PAKi network was the first to offer customers the foldable ECON container on a European scale. The plastic ECON is identical to the Gitterbox in dimensions, but handles space more efficiently due to its foldable properties.

Exciting future ahead

Today, the number of Euro pallets in the open pool alone has risen to an astonishing 500 million. PAKi remains Europe’s market leader for the management of all sorts of standardised pallets and boxes. Our clients, mainly hauliers at the start, now all the actors of the supply chain, range from transport companies to chargers to retail. To facilitate their pallet exchange, we interconnect thousands of pooling partners all over Europe. Over 200 PAKi employees represent the company in 23 countries - they promptly answer our customer’s calls in 13 languages. We will keep on pioneering the market and challenging current practices where necessary.
